What Is DAU?

DAU represents a digital certificate confirming ownership of physical gold. Owning DAU means you have a digital claim to a gold kilobar, securely stored and insured in Swiss vaults.

If your DAU holdings amount to less than one full bar, it signifies shared ownership of a kilobar with other DAU investors.

How to Trade DAU?

The issuer, DuBois, collaborates with primary distributors like Dauphin and Kwex to streamline the process of purchasing and selling gold using DAU.

How to redeem physical gold if I am a DAU holder?

If you want to redeem the physical gold that you own via your DAU tokens you have to follow these simple steps:

Submit a Collection Request

Visit the DuBois website to access the Physical Collection page. Here, fill out a form to specify the amount of gold you wish to collect and provide your contact information.

Confirmation Process

A DuBois Relationship Manager will reach out to confirm your request and assist with any necessary onboarding procedures. If you’re already onboarded through a DuBois distributor, your existing documents can be shared with DuBois upon your approval.

Preparation for Collection

The Relationship Manager coordinates with the vault provider to prepare your gold for collection, handling all related administration.

Return DAU Tokens

You’ll need to transfer your DAU tokens back to DuBois and take care of any administrative fees. This is necessary for invalidating the DAU upon collection.

Physical Gold Collection

Finally, you can collect your physical gold from an independent Swiss vault or another designated location on the agreed date.

How Do I Prove the Ownership of DAU?

DAU utilizes public, strong, decentralized blockchain network Ethereum to ensure quick, adaptable, and cost-effective transactions via ‘smart contracts’.

The key strengths of these blockchains lie in their resistance to fraud, their capacity for verification, and their immutable nature. The blockchain records all purchases, and transfers of DAU.

How is the Price of DAU Determined?

The value of DAU fluctuates and is often set at a premium above the market price for a kilogram of gold from the Loco London Market, accredited by LBMA.

This premium is due to the absence of holding costs and increased liquidity which allows easy transfer of the ownership of gold via DAU.

Why is DAU Different from Other Assets-Backed Securities?

DAU distinguishes itself from typical “gold-backed” tokens by its structure. Whereas most gold-backed tokens act as claims against the issuer for gold, often with the issuer using the invested capital to generate returns, DAU is a direct ownership receipt. This means DAU holders legally own the physical gold, not just a claim, and the gold isn’t invested or financialized without the holder consent.

Additionally, DAU allows for direct gold collection from Swiss vaults at any time, with costs confined to a flat administrative fee, unlike the high redemption fees often charged by other issuers.
